Louis VanDenMeijdenberg (1949) was born and raised in Moergestel in the south of the Netherlands. During forty years Louis was active as a photographer and exhibited several times in a variety of galleries. A few years ago he gave a new twist to his artistic career. He started focusing on painting. Inspired by nature in all its gradations, he characterizes his work as the transition zone between impressionism and expressionism.
In painting Louis is an autodidact. While experimenting with all sorts of brushes, painting materials and substrates, he mastered the art of painting. Constantly looking outside the bounds of possibilities, he developed his own style in a relatively short period.
His knowledge and experience in the world of photography are unmistakably visible in his work. Notably is his use of colour, light, technique and focus on details.
Louis composes his work based on both acrylic paint and epoxy. Epoxy is a liquid resin, which is used as a protective coating. By the alternate use of both components it creates spatial layers, which gives his paintings an open character.
